Maraman – Sea Grass – Food for Sacred Dugong – 2021
Paintings – Acrylic on Canvas – 41 x 71 cm
Sea grass is all around the coast of the Gulf Country. Not just one type, but four different kinds that are all important.
The sea grass is important because it is the food that the Dugong feed on to stay strong and keep breeding.
Dugong are very sacred animals to our people and have been at the centre of many ceremonial songs and stories since since way back in the dream-time.
