Around the Borroloola region there are four main tribal groups – Yanyuwa, Marra, Garrwa and Gudanji. Garrwa and Gudanji are mainland, fresh water people who fish from the rivers and water holes. Marra and Yanyuwa are coastal, salt water people who fish from the sea. We all have different languages and different stories, but we can still come together, sit down and talk about important cultural business and make decisions together. This keeps us strong and is the right way for our culture.
