A-rabijinda (Giant Conch Shell) – 2022
Paintings – Acrylic on Canvas – 30 x 30 cm (pre-stretched)
A-rabijinda, Giant Conch Shells were traditionally used during a Dugong hunt. Yanyuwa men would blow the shell (as a horn) to signal to people back on land that the hunt had been successful, they were safe and they were on their way back to shore. Women would then begin preparing the fires for cooking.
